The Aquatic Science story
Since 2003, Aquatic Science has been developing innovative solutions for the natural water management and the feeding of ornamental fish. Combining scientific expertise and passion, we are working towards a future that respects the environment.
An adventure born of a shared passion
Aquatic Science is the result of an encounter between two academics who share a passion for the aquatic world. Bruno Jacobs, a fish vet, and Frédéric Luizi, a biologist, met while studying in Scotland. In 2003, they decided to combine their expertise in biology, aquaculture and animal medicine to create a company dedicated to water conservation and fish welfare.
Their first project, called ‘Ichi Food’, met the nutritional needs of koi with high-quality food. Shortly afterwards, the ‘Ichi Pond’ range was launched to take care of ornamental fish. These products marked the beginnings of Aquatic Science and were quickly adopted by aquatic enthusiasts.
Growth through innovation
In 2007, the company opened a subsidiary in France, and in 2008 expanded its offering with a complete range of pond solutions, including care products and filtration equipment.
From its beginnings as a family garage, the company has grown to occupy modern facilities on the former FN Herstal sites.
The first natural swimming pool was launched in 2011. This was the ideal time to launch the first biologically filtered pools, which were designed to convert lagoon pools into more natural swimming pools, without the use of chemicals. In 2012, Aquatic Science launched the first natural indoor public swimming pool.
In 2017, Aquatic Science launched Vitii, a 100% natural, automatic and connected bio-mineral filtration solution that revolutionises water management by offering unrivalled efficiency while also respecting the environment.
